Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can my child “play up” a Division? Centerville Recreational strongly recommends that children play in their appropriate age/grade group. In rare cases where a player is no longer challenged in their age/grade group, Centerville Rec may recommend “playing up”. A child may only “play up” if their parent volunteers to coach that team.
  • Can siblings play on the same team? Yes, as long as each child meets the appropriate age/grade criteria.
  • Can friends play on the same team? While we receive many requests for friends to play with each other, Centerville Recreational prides itself in the fact that teams are formed on a random basis. We balance our teams by each child’s age within each Division. By balancing teams based only on age, we increase the chance that teams will compete at the same skill level. If you truly desire to have your child play with a friend, one parent from each family must agree to coach the team. Please note this request on each registration form.
  • What day will my child have practice? Practice schedules are left to the discretion of each Coach. Centerville Recreational will recommend the appropriate frequency of practices for each age group, but the day(s) and time are the decision of the Coach.
  • What days are the games played on? Our spring and fall program are structured differently. In spring we typically play games on Saturday’s only and hold the developmental mini-camps during the week. Your child will attend camp on one evening every other week. In the fall, the Stars and Passers typically play games on Saturday’s only. Shooters through Kickers will play on Saturday and one evening during the week. We do our best to keep each Division’s weeknight game on the same night. Because schedules are based on total program enrollment, we cannot predict with certainty the schedule until our Coaches meetings, two to four weeks before the season start.
  • Where will I practice and play games? Centerville Recreational utilizes the Centerville – Washington Township Parks. We have utilized Forest Field, Iron Horse and Yankee for our games during the Fall Program and School House for our Spring Program. We request that our Coaches utilize the many neighborhood parks for their practices.
  • When will our Coach contact us? Typically our volunteer coaches will contact you approximately three to four weeks before the start of the Program.
  • I’ve never coached before. Can I coach a Centerville Recreational soccer team? YES! We are continually looking to add to our “coaching pool”. If you have a desire to learn and enjoy working with kids – you can coach. Our Spring Program offers you an excellent chance to participate bi-weekly training sessions and learn the sport along side your team. For our Fall Program, we offer a series of pre-season coaching clinics to prepare you for your team sessions.
