Frequently Asked Questions
- Can my child “play up” a Division? Centerville Recreational strongly recommends that children play in their appropriate age/grade group. In rare cases where a player is no longer challenged in their age/grade group, a player can play up 1 division.
- Can siblings play on the same team? Yes, as long as each child meets the appropriate age/grade criteria. A sibling cannot play up or down more than 1 division to play together.
- Can friends play on the same team? While we receive many requests for friends to play with each other, Centerville Recreational prides itself in the fact that teams are formed on a random basis. We balance our teams by each child’s age within each Division. By balancing teams based only on age and years of play, we increase the chance that teams will compete at the same skill level. We do NOT take special requests to place players together or with a specific coach.
- What day will my child have practice? Practice schedules are left to the discretion of each Coach. Centerville Recreational will recommend the appropriate frequency of practices for each age group, but the day(s) and time are the decision of the Coach.
- What days are the games played on? Our spring and fall program are structured differently. In spring we typically play games and try to teach players about the game at all ages. In the fall U6 – U14 typically play games on Saturday’s but will play one or two games during the week leading up to tournament.
- Where will I practice and play games? Centerville Recreational utilizes the Centerville – Washington Township Parks. We have Robt Mays, Iron Horse and Yankee for practices. We ask that coaches use community parks and not Forest Field or the neighborhood parks, which the district has deemed off limits. Coaches do not make reservations or request practice fields, if you encounter another team, please work with each other and share the space/nets.
- When will our Coach contact us? Typically our volunteer coaches will contact you as soon as teams are released. Ideally we’d like that to be a couple weeks at least before the season, but there have been seasons when we have difficulty getting coaches and run it down to the season.
- I’ve never coached before. Can I coach a Centerville Recreational soccer team? YES! We are continually looking to add to our “coaching pool”. If you have a desire to learn and enjoy working with kids – you can coach. Our coaches have a training session with our professional trainers to answer questions about the division, training drills or questions you may have about coaching.
